A Little Sharing

Love changes so many things in and around us. Love inspires; love motivates; love stimulates us to excel, to move ahead in life. We get love from many – at times, from unknown and unexpected sources. A little bit of love shared and spread around brings us more love – it brings us happiness as well as peace of mind. If sharing a bit of what you have got in ample makes you happy and makes you think that you have achieved something then why not do that?

Well, I am on my way to reach out to the deprived. I am going to share what I have got – devoting a part of my time and a part of my share of love to those who have got none. I stand for a cause. I will stand for it as long as I can.

Wish me luck. Wish me success in my endeavor. I want to contribute too, and Make a Difference!
Will shortly update you all more on it.

Happy Birthday to the God of Cricket!

Happy Birthday Sachin

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar (Marathi: सचिन रमेश तेंडुलकर) (born April 24, 1973 in Mumbai) is an Indian cricketer widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket. In 2002, Wisden ranked him the second greatest Test batsman of all time, next to Sir Donald Bradman, and the second greatest one day international (ODI) batsman of all time, next to Viv Richards. In September 2007, the Australian leg spinner Shane Warne rated Tendulkar as the greatest player he has played with or against. Tendulkar was the only player of the current generation to be included in Bradman's Eleven, the dream team of Donald Bradman, published in his biography. He is sometimes referred to as Little Master or Master Blaster.

Sachin was named after the Famous Indian Film Music Maestro Sachin Deb Barman, who happens to be from my state, Tripura! I'm proud of that too...

Tendulkar is the highest run scorer in both Test matches and ODIs, and also the batsman with the most centuries in either form of the game. The first player to score fifty centuries in all international cricket combined, he now has more than eighty international centuries.

On October 17, 2008, when he surpassed Brian Lara's record for the most runs scored in Test Cricket, he also became the first batsman to score 12,000 runs in that form of the game, having also been the third batsman and first Indian to pass 11,000 runs in Test cricket. He was also the first player to score 10,000 runs in one-day internationals, and also the first player to cross every subsequent 1000-run mark that has been crossed in ODI cricket history. In the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, Tendulkar surpassed Australia's Allan Border to become the player to cross the 50-run mark the most number of times in Test cricket history, and also the second ever player to score 10 Test centuries against Australia, after only Sir Jack Hobbs of England more than 70 years back. Tendulkar has been honored with the Padma Vibhushan award, India's second highest civilian award, and the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, India's highest sporting honor.

It Hurts - to stay away!

When you are in a family, there will be some differences of opinions. Sometimes, you are right and sometimes, others are. But then, when you are right and the majority in the family is wrong and you can do very less about it, where do you go or what do you do?

Well, in such cases, you both sulk and give a damn to everyone else, or you just admit the fact that the majority always wins and try to patch up. A good way is to stay away for some time, till you cool down or till the others understands the mistake and the right thing is accepted and done!

I chose to stay away from the family. It hurts – it hurts because there is so much of love involved – so much of care and concern involved. It hurts because you want to go back to the family and tell them that you are not wrong, but you cannot do so. It hurts because you know you miss them. It hurts more when you know you are not being missed! Phew!!

I chose to stay away and away I will be. I do not want to, but then, this is the only thing my tiny little brain and the big ego can think of is to stay put! So I am.

A Beautiful Picture

Here is a photo taken using a panorama image capturing device called Gigapan created by the Carnegie Mellon University and a canon g10 camera.

The photographer had to click 220 snaps from that camera to get this complete view of the Obama's inaugural address. It took a MacBook pro around 7hrs to process the complete image. The final size of the image is over 2GB.

TWL Excellence Awards

Writing blogs were never so happening with me as the last few months have been. I admit that I was having less work in office and hence, I could devote more time in blogging. From the start of November till date, it has been an awesome experience. I have got new friends and together we spent a good time. This period has taken my blogging to great heights too. I have been writing more and more these days. In the month of March 2009, I posted 30 different posts in my Poem Blog, Thus Wrote Tan! Was not that surprising? Yes, it was. I’m loving it at this moment.

I have been telling you all about my venture with a group of fellow bloggers – The Writers Lounge (TWL). Recently (March 31, 2009), TWL has awarded me with this years “The Excellence Award.” There were a few categories all right and I was awarded the following two awards:

Award for Experimenting with different Genres (poetry)
Male: Tan
Female: Pratibha aka Prats

Mr. & Ms. Consistent @ Lounge (Poetry-Hindi/Urdu)
Male: Chirag and Tan
Female: Uzra and Insiya

For more information, please visit The Writers Lounge.

I am very happy to have received the same. Really, I am happy. I am obliged, honored and blessed. I am glad that I joined TWL. It all started with the Rain Drenched Lounge Contest, where I participated just by chance. And after that till now, it never stopped. I have visited, read, commented almost every time I logged in to the internet since then. It was like a family with them. Each day I need to check what is happening in the Lounge - if the review is out or a new contest or the results of the quizzes and of course newer entries. There is a huge lot of talents in the lounge now. Hope it lives long and supports all the prospects.

My Coming Days and Blogging:

Well, there was a big change when I joined TWL. The members and the readers there inspired me to write more and more. It was wonderful. Change, is constant and change is going to come soon again. After this month, I may not be able to be as active on the blogs as I am now. Things in the office are going to change and I may be moved to different process and different locations with different timings. I may not be able to be so regular on TWL or other blogs that I follow and visit regularly. I will try my best to keep up with the pace, but then I will surely be not that frequent.

Anyways, as they say, the show must go on – it will go on. I’m not giving up on anything. I need to cut it short – that’s it! Will rock again – will write and share again and will read a lot more from now on. Hope I will get all your support and well wishes as always. Together we shall rock!! Keep visiting my blogs and keep reading me more…

List three: things I need to do!

I am writing this as prompted in Heads Or Tails, week # 85.

Three things I need to do as soon as I can. I will list all these three here. These are all real, and hence, I am posting this list here. Check out mates:

1. Well, I just came from a weekend trip to Masinagudi in Madumalai Forests, in Tamil Nadu with a group of my office and my wife. I need to write about the whole tour. Need to collate the pictures and upload in Picasa too.
2. I recently got a couple of awards in The Writers Lounge, for excellence in writing. Well, I need to write about that and post them here. Will do that at the earliest.
3. I need to pay my Insurance Premium and Friday is the due date. I do not know how to do that, as I will be mostly equipped in the day time (sleeping) and at night, in office!

These are the three things that came to my mind. I need to do a lot of other things too. I need to repair the fan in my bedroom. Bangalore is getting hot with each day now. I need to stitch a few dresses for my wife and a pant for myself – the New Year is coming and it’s in the next week. So, I need to hurry for that. Today was my father’s birthday. (Yesterday, as per Bengali calendar) I called him, but he reacted all wrongly and similarly did my mother. Well, I need to call them up again and patch up. I need to call my wife’s father too, as they are going to come to Bangalore and I need to arrange things. Hmm! That’s a hell lot of things that are there to be done, but I have listed the first three that came to my mind.
